The other day a client asked me what type of session I enjoy photographing the most. I said it’s really all of them. And that’s true. On my way home from the session — which was a good distance away in South Jersey — I had time to really think about that question. What IS my favorite. If I were literally forced to pick only one type of session to do for the rest of my career as a photographer, which would I choose? Newborn? Weddings? Family? Seniors? Commercial?
The sun was shining. My iced coffee was perfect. My Zeppelin CD (yeah, my car is old, lol) kept me company. And I thought and thought. Which one? Which one?!
I thought so hard about it that I wound up taking the wrong exit and landed smack dab in the middle of rush hour traffic in downtown Jersey City. And this bought me even MORE time to think about the question. (Two hours more, actually.)
I think the conclusion I came to is that if I had to do only one thing, it would be year plans. Maybe that’s cheating a little since a year plan means I get to see lots of stages. But helping families document the change is probably what I love most. Things change so quickly as the years go by. And year plans are the proof!
It feels like just yesterday that I first meet Addy. She snoozed her way through her newborn session … giggled her way through her 6 month session … laughed her way through her 9 month session … and ate a cake like a champ on her one-year session. What a beautiful year!
Such a big girl!!! I have a feeling I’ll need my sneakers for our next session : ) I foresee running. Lots of running!
